Membership Requirements

Each volunteer member is assigned to a 12 hour weekly shift. Each day of the week is broken into a day crew and a night crew. Day crews are on between 5:45AM to 5:45PM while night crews are on between 5:45PM to 5:45AM. While on duty and not on calls, members review a training topic for an hour to keep skills and knowledge fresh. The remainder of a duty shift is spent as the member wishes. Some do homework, catch up on work, watch TV, play basketball, and even relax. Click here to download an application.

There are now several types of membership available depending on your experience and level of interest. Instead of becoming a standard member you could instead become an associate member at the Auxiliary level as a crew member or a driver. An Auxiliary Member (crew) runs 24 hours each month as a member on the crew. Within 1 year of starting this type of member must become certified at the Emergency Care Attendant level or above (EMT-B prefered). If you are currently a member of another emergency service within Essex Rescue's service area you could become an Auxiliary Member (Driver). With this membership type you are asked to commit to 12 hours each month as a driver only.
