Current EMT courses are taught using the national EMT-Basic (EMT-B) curriculum. The EMT-B course is a 100-hour course taught two times each year at the University of Vermont as well as in other surrounding communities. The EMT-I course, a 60-hour course, is also offered two times a year through UVM. Essex Rescue is also participating in a pilot intubation program, which is available to members with advanced skills and appropriate EMS experience.

For full members, EMT training is paid for by Essex Rescue. Most of these courses are taught in the evening, with an occasional Saturday session.
