The process of becoming a member of Essex Rescue involves the following steps:

1. Obtain an Essex Rescue New Member Application. You can call 878-4859 for an application by regular mail or click here to download an application.

2. Return completed application to Essex Rescue.

3. Officer’s meet monthly and if positions are available will notify applicants and perform candidate interviews.

4. Officer’s review candidate qualifications and approve or deny candidate continuation of membership process.

5. If approved, candidate is scheduled for 4 one-hour crew training sessions (Evaluation sheets are completed by Crew Captains).

6. Upon completion of training sessions, candidate is brought up for probationary membership by squad vote at the next scheduled squad meeting.

7. Probationary Member given crew assignment and begins running with Essex Rescue.

8. After 6 months of Probationary Membership and upon completion of the New Member Checklist, the member is brought up for Full Membership by squad vote.

9. Candidate becomes a Full Member of Essex Rescue.
