When on duty, individual Essex Rescue members must remain within approximately four miles of the station. If a member lives outside the four-mile limit or their vehicle is not equipped with lights and siren, then it is necessary for the member to stay at the garage quarters while on duty. The garage quarters do provide all the basic comforts of home and each member is free to use the facilities as needed while on duty.
